From the Journal of the ArchMage Tauster:
In order to properly document what is happening with the group, I suppose some of their past history is needed. Through interviews with the group, judicious bribes, and of course, magic I have found out made them the way they are, and what brought them here, to find my poor lost Jeleneth.
They are the children and grandchildren of an adventuring band known as The Unbound. The Unbound is a band that has been together for decades. The name comes from the fact that many of the current members were once slaves, captured by pirates based in The Nelanther. Fate, luck, or the Gods provided for their takeover of the pirate ship and freedom from slave chains (which is where they took the name “The Unbound).
As soon as possible they landed the ship on the sword coast, but rather than scatter to the four winds like many of the slaves did, their parents decided to stay together and thus the adventuring band was born.
The group had many harrowing adventures, traveling all across Faerun from Zazesspur to the Earthfast Mountains, making quite a name for themselves. Eventually the longer-lived races in the party, seeing the others start to slow with age came up with the idea of settling down in one place, to better be contracted by those who needed their help (and providing a place for those who wished to stay in the company, but lost interest in, or could not, adventure anymore).
And so the Freedom Hold compound was started, in the forests south of Silverymoon. The location was perfect. The city-bred could visit Silverymoon or Sundabar, the Dwarves had the mountain ranges to explore just to the east, and the Elves could find the quiet and peacefulness of The High Forest.
Years have past and the children (of the Dwarves and Elves) and grandchildren (of other races) having watched their grandparents and parents live the adventuring life have decided to do the same. But rather than live in the shadow of their band, they have struck out on their own, forming their own company.
Learning as much as they could from their elders, and having heard about a place to continue their training with a group called The Brotherhood, they traveled to Waterdeep to enroll. But they soon found that they had learned most of the skills taught there, and after discussing it with one of the founders, Terraine Wisteria, and also with Illefinder Floshem, a powerful Mage, they were offered a place in their company. But still wanting to find their own fame and fortune they graciously declined.
They parted company on good terms with the Brotherhood and decided to try their luck as caravan guards to the city of Neverwinter. Everything went smoothly, and after being paid they decided to join another caravan to Mirabar and then to Longsaddle.
They were approached by a wizard named Gordrenn who had a job for them to deliver a chest a chest to another wizard, who was of course, myself, Tauster, who lived in the village of Thurmaster in Haranshire which, for those uneducated amongst you, is located between Silverymoon and Dragonspear Castle.
Recently the Paladin Webley left on a quest given to him by his church and some members of the party decided to accompany him. The Elven Wizard Tripper left the group due to personality conflicts and has been sighted traveling the Realms and beyond, growing in power and wisdom.
Their group has had many adventures in and around Haranshire and the villages of Milborne and Thurmaster including the following:
Uncompleted quests
v Find Jelenneth, daughter of the owner of the inn Barron of Mutton and apprentice of the party’s friend and business partner Tauster.
v Find the kidnapped spellcasters who seem to have been funneled into the deep UnderDark.
v The continuing quest for the Deep Gnomes.
