Tauster's Journal Entry #1594

Bold as brass these Slavers are! They just stood in the middle of the passage and let the party approach. Tho the Sten's group didn't know it at first, this group of miscreants matched or surpassed them in many ways. It is no wonder they have been able to carry off so many spellcasters from Haranshire and Azuth knows where else. And we don't even know if they were the only ones, or just one of many groups engaged in this...this...ah my poor Jelenneth...you never had a chance did you child?

The party showed excellent tactical abilities, casting spells to bind and them, to keep their spellcasters from uttering a syllable of Art. (Note #1: Of course, to be fair, that was only after both enemy spellcasters dumped fireballs in their midst!) (Note #2: Reminder, work harder to learn the facility to cast spells without moving or utterance) They were a bit surprised not to catch the Fighter in the tentacles the wizard cast, and that the cleric broke free. In my opinion the cleric is who they should have concentrated on instead of the fighter, an opinion borne out as he dispelled the tentacles when he was able to. Of course, the group can be forgiven for not knowing that a Rogue was hiding invisibly, though it near cost one of the party their life as the Rogue's blade struck without notice. That one, he was a significant factor in the fight as he alternated between hiding beneath the cover of invisibility and silently striking a party member. The enemy party worked as a unit, covering each other, using their abilities to their fullest and for awhile, I wasn't sure who was going to win, especially when almost half the party was caught in a Wall of Fire. Fortunate for the Bard that the Monk was brave enough to pull him from the flames. Young Sten turned the tide of battle when he called upon Tyr's might to disrupt the invisibility of not only the Rogue, but the Cleric of Bane who had used some magic dust to disappear.

But now....now they are caught between morality and practicality. The other two slavers have negotiated their freedom (The Rogue and Fighter having been dispatched in combat) but Sten is full of righteous fury to rid Toril of the priest of Bane. The problem comes from the fact that the priest has information which he says is vital to the party and will not disclose it unless given his freedom (sans all the slavers magic items) and the decision on what to do will decide how well the party will be able to find Jelenneth. Ah, I wish I had thought to put some way to communicate with the party in those goggles when I created them, but alas, I did not. It matters not much in the end I suppose...I will just have to trust to them to do what is best.
